EWC Reporting

Taking as its basis the knowledge of tonnages of EWC codes entering and leaving permitted waste facilities across England and Wales, the EWC reporting from Footprint Services has been used by waste facilities, consultants, brokers, shipping operators, providers of long-haul logistics and industrial manufacturing sites. Information can be presented either for INCOMING waste (i.e. waste entering permitted facilities) or OUTGOING waste (i.e. waste leaving permitted facilities). Examples can be provided on request.

EWC Interrogator: Overview

The innovative "EWC Interrogator", designed and developed by Footprint Services, allows the user to view sinks and sources of waste by EWC code within the permitted site landscape of England and Wales. Responsive mapping guides the insight, giving an impactful visualisation of the underlying data.

EWC Radius Reports

Sometimes a company wants insight into the waste streams with a certain radius of a postcode, especially if they are considering developing a new facility in that area, or they already have a facility and are seeking additional feedstock. Reports can be requested showing the waste sites and tonnages within that chosen area.

Sankey Flow Diagrams

Benchmarking flow diagrams are available, either for your own company or another. The diagram presented here is for a real waste management company, where EWC 20 03 01 (Mixed Municipal Waste) is the key incoming flow. Processes take place within the facility, whereby EWC 19 12 12 (other mixtures from treatment) and 19 12 10 (Refuse-Derived Fuel) are the major outflows.

Please get in touch if you want to discuss these benchmarking flow diagrams.

Anaerobic Digestion

Anaerobic Digestion ("AD") is hardly a new process (referring to the breaking down of biodegradable material by bio-organisms in the absence of oxygen), though it rose to prominence in the UK in 2009 when it received Governmental profile and financial support as the favoured technology by which to process food and other organic waste streams. Unlike the pre-existing composting sector, AD offered electricity generation as an eyecatching byproduct.

AD vs IVC Trend Report

Since 2009, the number of facilities permitted to treat food waste contaminated with animal by-products by Anaerobic Digestion (AD) and In-Vessel Composting (IVC) has been captured on a periodic basis. Initially driven by the simple curiosity of wondering how the overt central support for AD as 'technology of choise' would impact on the pre-existing IVC sector, the tracker now reveals regional trends through graphs and maps.

Footprint Services released an updated report in August 2019, capturing the trends over the previous decade.
